Quite simply, the Literacy First Process builds a systemic outreach into all Content Areas, refining every teachers instructional skills. This in turn promotes faster comprehension for all students.
From the very start, Literacy First establishes teacher capability and confidence as well as strong supportive instructional leadership as critical success factors that are set in place with easy to follow step-by-step procedures that:
- Provide instructional strategies the drive students to clearer and quicker understanding of content
- Strengthen teachers instructional skills, regardless of content area and
- Enrich principals instructional leadership skills and ability to provide on-going supportive growth environment.
Literacy First provides a comprehensive 3-year Middle School - High School plan to Accelerated Reading and Content Area Achievement, which includes the following: a concise structured daily plan for struggling readers to receive 2 hours of systematic and explicit reading instruction plus up to 20 minutes of monitored independent reading practice; a customized schedule for school-wide achievement across all grades and content areas; on-going on-site professional development, coaching and consultation for teachers and administrators; an online data collection, management and analysis system; and registration in our annual Leadership Institute.
